Who can benefit from clubhouse membership and what are the eligibility requirements?

Clubhouse membership is open to anyone who has been diagnosed with a mental illness, including conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. There are no eligibility requirements, all clubhouses welcome individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life, and no cost to join. In addition, clubhouses can provide vital support during times of crisis. For many people with mental illness, the clubhouse can be a lifeline. 

What are some of the challenges?

Clubhouse staff members are trained in mental health and help members access resources and find purpose in their lives. The clubhouse model has been successful in helping people with mental illness live fulfilling lives, but there are challenges that come with running a clubhouse that must be overcome. One challenge is funding. Clubhouses rely on government and private grants, as well as donations, to keep their doors open. Another challenge is stigma. Although clubhouses are gaining acceptance, there are still many people who don’t understand mental illness and view clubhouses with suspicion. Lastly, clubhouses are challenged to hired highly trained and committed staff. Staff members need to be highly professional and have a strong sense of purpose because they witness firsthand the effects of mental illness on members’ lives, and this can be emotionally draining. Despite these challenges, clubhouses provide an essential service to their members and communities. and many staff and members find them to be invaluable resources in their journey towards recovery.

Tips For Staying Safe in The Summer Heat


1. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, to stay hydrated


It is important to drink fluids, especially water, to stay hydrated. Thirst is not a good indicator of hydration status. The Institute of Medicine recommends that women consume about 2.7 liters (91 ounces) of total beverages per day and men consume about 3.7 liters (125 ounces) per day. Beverages such as coffee, tea, juice, and soda do not count toward the recommended intake. Up to 20% of daily fluid intake may come from food. 

During the hot summer season, it is very important to stay hydrated and have a healthy lifestyle. Dehydration can cause serious health problems and impair your performance, such as heat stroke. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids, especially water, to stay hydrated and healthy. And avoid drinks with caffeine or alcohol, which can actually further dehydrate you. Drink up! Stay cool and hydrated this summer!


2. Stay in the shade as much as possible



Summertime is a great time to get outdoors and enjoy the nice and warm cozy weather. However, it is important to be aware of the risks to your health of excessive sun exposure. Stay in the shade as much as possible to minimize sun exposure and avoid sunburn of your skin, apply sunscreen regularly, and wear protective clothing. Too much exposure to the sun can be harmful and potentially dangerous. 

When the sun is out, it can be tempting to stay in the sun and soak up the rays. However, it is important to be aware of the risks that come with spending too much time in the sun. Prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause serious damage to the skin, including burns, premature aging, and even skin cancer. SO what can you do to protect yourself? One of the best ways to avoid these risks is to stay in the shade as much as possible. When you are in the shade, you are not exposed to direct sunlight, which means that your risk of getting sunburned or developing skin cancer is significantly reduced. So next time you are planning a day outside, make sure to find a spot in the shade or bring your protective gear like shades and an umbrella, and enjoy the good weather without putting your health at risk.

Instead, try to schedule your workouts or other activities for early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler. If you do have to be active during the midday hours, take frequent breaks in a shady or air-conditioned area to help stay cool and hydrated. If you must be active during the heat of the day, be sure to take breaks often and stay hydrated. And if you start to feel dizzy, lightheaded, or nauseous, stop what you’re doing and seek medical attention immediately. By taking these precautions, you can help to keep yourself safe during hot weather.


5. Use sunblock liberally to protect your skin from sunburn



Sunscreen or sunblock is an important part of any skincare routine. It is a lotion, gel, spray, foam, or other topical product that contains ingredients to block ultraviolet (UV) radiation. These ingredients can reflect, scatter, or absorb UV radiation. It is usually intended to protect against the sun’s harmful effects.

Chemical filters penetrate the top layer of skin and absorb UV rays and convert them into heat. Mineral sunscreens tend to be more natural and less irritating to the skin, but they can be more difficult to apply evenly and may need to be reapplied more frequently. Chemical sunscreens provide better protection against UV rays, but they can be more irritating to the skin. Ultimately, the best sunscreen is the one that you will use regularly and that provides the level of protection that you need.

If you are going to be in the sun for an extended period of time, it is best to use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. You should also reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more often if you are sweating or swimming. By taking these simple precautions, you can help to keep your skin healthy and sunburn-free. So be sure to apply sunscreen generously every time you go outside!
